FCI Scientific Commission

PRESENTATION

The FCI Scientific Commission is one of the three (3) FCI mandatory commissions.
The commission consists of six (6) members who are elected by the FCI General Assembly.

To become effective, all decisions made in the commission, must be approved by the FCI General Committee.

The Scientific commission is led by a President who is elected by the commission's members. The commission also appoints a secretary within the commission's members.

The Scientific Commission has the following four (4) main tasks:

support guidelines on breeding pedigree dogs based on scientific evidence and proven experience;
revise and propose amendments to the International Breeding Rules of the FCI;
inform the FCI about new scientific findings impacting breeds;
provide recommendations on the recognition of new breeds.

The Scientific Commission has a physical meeting every year, together with the Standards commission. In addition, the Commission holds online meetings every two months.

The minutes of the meeting are sent to the FCI Head Office and to all delegates of the commission and then submitted to the approval of the delegates during the next meeting of the commission.
